FWP is keen to improve the health outcomes of Maasai living in cities, who frequently go without shelter, food, water and access to toilets / bathing facilities.

For the last year, we have worked in partnership with a student from Stanford University on research investigating Maasai perceptions of health and their use of health services. The focus on research was particularly on urban migrant Maasai, given their increased exposure to disease and poor sanitation.

FWP assisted with the development of the research proposal, question design, managing logistics of the research and sourcing translators and people to participate in interviews. From July-September 2013, over 40 Maasai people were interviewed in town and in villages.

We look forward to the research report being completed by July 2014 and working on how we can use the findings to help improve the health of Maasai.
